There are general tendency in villages that the girls should not study after 8th standard (middle schooling), this is primarily because of social security as the girls reach to puberty up to this age and if some. The situation is very adverse with the poor and marginalized communities as their financial conditions don’t allow them to teach their children at higher standards andprivate tuitions. The project started educational support centers in remote rural areas to counter the above problems and to shape the capabilities of rural girls with their enhanced confidences. The model of the programme is also community based.
Out Puts
The centre is helping all those girls irrespective of caste & school, who are willing to take extra classes for mathematics, English, science, social science. There are 6 such centers running in project area, enrolling 256 students (228-girls, 28-boys) in one year.
The outcome is encouraging as the result of students was 100% (80 students passed with First division and 176 with second division). This was definitely the result of confidence, dedication and hard working of the students. Their parents also realized that these students have talent and there is need to sharpen it. A part from providing extra classes to the girls, these centers encouraged the girls for their level of confidence, firm determinations and consistency in education. These centers have provided proper awareness and guideline on the social issues like dowry, gender discriminations, female feticide and women atrocities. These girls further induced the confidence to the other girls by sharing their experiences. These centers were started on experimental basis but this creative experiment is very successful in the terms of result and confidence.
